Willa Day Morris, MSW, is the Director of Polaris's Special Programs. Polaris recognises the importance of health and wellness for its staff, as well as the critical component of being a trauma informed organization. To this end, Willa focuses on supporting the staff and developing agency programming from a trauma informed perspective. She is trained as a clinical social worker, with years of experience in running trauma informed programs for front line staff and vulnerable populations. She has also implemented and developed several peer-run, survivor-inclusive programs for various agencies, ensuring that lived experience is part of programming and agency development. Willa is a DC native and has worked for the past 20+ years in positions that involved providing clinical supervision and individual and group therapy, as well as supervision of case managers and social workers. In addition to her clinical work, Willa has managed both small and large programs focused on improving direct client care through the creation of trauma-informed housing programs and programming -- all in settings where services were being provided to persons living in poverty, with mental health and/or substance abuse issues, and with histories of trauma and domestic violence.
