Trenton, NJ (March 21, 2013) – “Polaris Project New Jersey applauds the New Jersey legislature for passing a comprehensive bill against modern-day slavery today. By working directly with human trafficking survivors here in New Jersey, we know first-hand that criminals are profiting from the exploitation of men, women, and children for commercial sex or forced labor here in our communities. Passage of the Human Trafficking Prevention, Protection and Treatment Act makes it clear that these atrocities are not tolerated in our state.
“We thank Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle, Senator Nellie Pou, all of the bill sponsors, Attorney General Jeffery Chiesa, and the New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking for their support in making it easier for victims of human trafficking to become survivors. We urge Governor Chris Christie to sign this bill into law immediately”
