Amy’s Oscar Night Raises $2,300 to Stop Human Trafficking

Amy Scheidler, self-proclaimed “momager” from Michigan, has been hosting a party for Oscar Night every year since 2004 — and for the past ten years, she’s turned it into a benefit for causes that are close to her heart.

“The third year, my sister was going to be walking in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-day walk and needed to raise $1,500. A week before the party, I told people they could give if they wanted and we raised $800,” says Amy. Once she saw how simple it was to make a difference, she decided she’d hold a fundraiser every year.

Since then, Amy has chosen a wide range of charities to benefit through her Oscar Night party. Polaris was so thankful to be the beneficiary this year!

“I am proud to have supported Polaris through my charity on Oscar Night,” says Amy. “I felt the mission of the charity, the information on the site, and the name and meaning of the name fit so nicely with my event: all about the stars.”

Amy has been grateful to have a friend and family network that’s supportive of the causes she chooses. “Each year, we are able to help in a small way by donating.”

She gave a moving, unscripted speech to raise awareness about human trafficking — and she let her guests know that they could do something about it: They could make gifts to support the National Human Trafficking Hotline operated by Polaris to connect survivors of trafficking with emergency services and long-term care.

Thank you, Amy, for getting your community involved to raise more than $2,300 to help restore freedom and stability to survivors of human trafficking!
