Conversations are not recorded. Hotline Advocates do, however, keep detailed notes that ensure that signalers can continue the conversation or call receive additional help from any member of the Trafficking Hotline team at any time.
Survivor-Centered Practice
While notes are detailed, they purposefully do not transcribe conversations verbatim. This is to ensure that nothing survivors tell the Trafficking Hotline can be used against them to defend a trafficker by pointing out inconsistencies or changes in a story shared in the heat of the moment.
