Polaris has played an instrumental role in helping anti-trafficking groups in the United Kingdom, Mexico and Canada design state-of-the-art protocols, trainings, database technology and data training, referral guidelines and other processes and procedures to stand up a national human trafficking hotline. We no longer provide consulting services, but feel free to contact global@polarisproject.org if you are outside the US and need information or resources.
Vietnam
In 2015, Polaris sent a team to Vietnam to help train counselors to answer the relatively nascent, government-led anti-trafficking hotline based in Hanoi. In late 2019, Polaris returned to the country to help support the expanded call centers in Da Nang and An Giang. The team spent the week doing role-playing exercises and others skills-training with leaders in the Vietnamese social services and anti-trafficking sector as well as the hotline staff.
Canada
In 2018, Polaris began an intensive training and consulting partnership with the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking to create that country’s first national human trafficking hotline, based on the Polaris model and infrastructure. Polaris provided technical assistance on all areas of hotline operation, protocols, policies procedures and development of a data tracking system and referral directory. The Hotline is up and running and the two hotlines now work together on transnational cases.
Polaris has also trained staff, exported our “Freedom Force,” database system and helped set up hotlines in Albania, Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Greece, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, South Africa, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Ukraine.
