After escaping nearly six years of sex trafficking in 2007, Rebecca rebuilt her own life from the ground up—earning a master’s degree, becoming a TEDx speaker and filmmaker, and dedicating her career to helping others do the same. Over the past two decades, Rebecca has trained more than 150,000 professionals, including federal and state law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, healthcare providers, financial institutions, and community organizations. She has assisted on dozens of undercover operations, served as an expert witness in twenty state and federal criminal trials, and advised Congress after being appointed by the U.S. Attorney General to the National Advisory Council on Human Trafficking. Rebecca founded one of the nation’s leading survivor-led workforce development programs, Elevate Academy. Now a core program of Polaris, Elevate has helped nearly 2,000 survivors build meaningful careers and lasting economic independence after exploitation. A trailblazer in the anti-trafficking movement, her work has influenced survivor services, federal policy, law enforcement, litigation, education, media, and workforce development nationwide.
